That Jobs for American Coders Facebook page is amazing! That is THE place to go when you are ready to start your medical coding or billing job search. We have other leads for other courses, but this one is strictly billing and coding.
For those who are not on Facebook, and I truly understand why a person would not want to be on any social media at all, let us know and we'll pass some information along to you. I'll be careful about not sharing that outside our students and graduates though. Someone did and it was a disaster!!! The people were not qualified. The moderator was not happy. She's happy with us though. She LOVES our students and graduates. She says all of you are so well behaved, which you are. I am so proud. That was because of your excellent upbringing, of course. I had nothing to do with how you turned out. I'm just glad you did turn out so well.
I love that group. Even though I just started my coding course last week, it gives me hope that after I graduate and have my certificates, there will be a job for me out there. :-)
I agree, Linda. What a great group! Even if you're not currently looking for employment or you are still in school, it certainly never hurts to see what's out there in terms of jobs.
Hi Linda,
I have requested to join that group, but not accepted yet. Do I need to mention that I am an Andrews' student for that? Appreciate your help.
Regards,
Aparna
Aparna, let me check into it. They had a couple of problems last week and may have a more stringent policy now. It's possible that they just didn't get your request or haven't been to the approval button since you sent it.
Aparna, Pam can't figure out what happened. She said for you to send her a 'Friend' request and she'll take care of it. That would be Pam Kulczar.
This is only for Aparna. Everyone else should be fine going in the regular way.
Thanks Linda! Friend request option not available on her page, so I sent her a message.
Just got approved! Thanks for all your help, Linda. :-)
The site is great - everyone shares info and seems so helpful. I know it will be helpful when
closer to the end. Just today there was a link to a site for practice exams. Thanks so much for sharing this info w/ us Linda!
Yes, I think we'll keep this group as our own little secret weapon. :) As if a few other people don't already know about it. The problems they are having are not that the jobs are there. Many of them are just not qualified for the jobs that are posted. They don't have both CPC and CCS, and a few of them probably don't test/interview well. All of those things combined = a successful job search. That does mean that even though all those people are on there, very nice people, they are not all serious contenders for the jobs most of you will be applying for.
It has been very reassuring to see that there are jobs out there for qualified candidates. Although I will admit it's hard to see them posted and just be in the beginning of my studies. I can't wait until I'm able to apply!
Another thing I will add is that I am very surprised by how many people in the group are not really qualified for many of the jobs. Some of them hold no certifications at all. That just reinforces my decision to be here with Andrews. I will have both my CPC and CCS, which puts me ahead of a lot of people when it comes to getting that first job.
Thanks Linda for sharing the group with us!
I am loving that page. It's helping me to keep my eyes set on my end goal of landing an actual coding position!

Hi Linda,
I'm not on Facebook. Is it possible to pass along any pertinent information? Thanks!
Yes, as some of our graduates find some 'jewels' on there, they can post about them from personal experience. We won't do what someone did last week and copy and paste them from that site, which was very wrong and caused a huge problem. As we hear about them from graduates or when employers contact us, we'll put it on the graduate message board here as well.
