Congratulations Celeste! Great news!
Thanks, everyone! I felt very comfortable and relaxed walking into the test, and that 5 hours and 40 minutes went by in a flash. Was very happy with the score I received. I brought plenty of snacks but never ate them. Used a clock-faced watch that made no sound as my timer so I wouldn't have to look over my shoulder at the clock on the wall. I did have time to use the restroom and used up every last second to finish up going back over questions.
I chatted with a few other test-takers before the test and was amazed at some of their stories. Two of them, very nice ladies, had taken a local community college course where they hadn't been taught the CPT book barely at all but only the ICD-10 code book and when I asked why, they said it was because their teacher had not taken the CPC exam and didn't know what was on it. Apparently towards the end of their course, the teacher went and sat for the CPC exam and discovered the CPT book was on it, and so started doing night classes outside of regular classes in a jam session so that when her students went to sit for the exam, they would have an idea of how to use the CPT book. The two ladies were saying they thought they should get a refund and I was thinking, Yikes! That's a lot of money to put out for the books, the course, and the exam for so little training.
Also wanted to say I really appreciate the info in Cynthia K's thread (Congrats, Cynthia!) below. I've decided from what I've read, I too am going to sign up for Pietro Ingrande's August through September CCS prep class as I think it will be of great benefit and will also buy the AHIMA CCS prep book. The tips on this board are awesome!
Thanks again to Linda and Andrews and all of my amazing instructors! Happy to be a part of this remarkable group of people.
Congratulations, Celeste! Awesome job!
Thanks for your comments -- it really helps to hear things from those who have been there.
