I had a great experience testing for my CCS. Wonderful people.
Just to reaffirm some things necessary to help pass the CCS:
Make sure to study IPPS/MS-DRGs information and OPPS.
It is imperative that a code book with CC/MCC info is in it. I went to Amazon and purchased one and had it shipped within 2 days. So worth it. Also, there are new updates Oct. 1st, so a new code book would be in order for ICD-10-CM. The Optum 360 2018 ICD-10-CM Expert for Hospitals has the CC/MCC info.
I HIGHLY recommend a medical dictationary.
I HIGHLY recommend Pietro Ingrande's DRG 3-hour session if his CCS prep isn't taken. It is the best one I found after reviewing 3-4 others. I also suggest if someone takes this session, MAKE SURE TO HEED ALL OF HIS ADVICE AND SUGGESTIONS because it is INVALUABLE. I can't reiterate this enough. Also, the other videos on this topic were quite boring, something about the way Pietro teaches helps one to remember and the information sticks, and he is by far boring.
I HIGHLY recommend if someone isn't comfortable with outpatient coding, to review this info as there was quite a bit on the exam.
There were quite a bit of compliance/regulatory questions in my opinion. Brush up on this as well.
Overall, I did not find the test difficult. I was actually surprised by it. It has a little bit of everything, so be prepared.
I am happy this chapter of my life is finished.
