Ladies, I am delighted to announce that I passed the board exam last Saturday, after failing the CPC my first go around in December (missed by 2 points). I tell you, I was sure feeling down about failing, as I felt confident that I was prepared the first time. However, time was my downfall... I over analyzed the scenarios, ran out of time, then had to rush through the difficult sections that I had saved for the end..guessed at so many at the end of the exam. However, the second time around I was able to complete all cases and finished with 10 minutes to spare.
To prepare, I spent time reviewing the coding conventions, watched some YouTube videos, and went over the Kuehn and the Hazelwood books again.
This exam is SOOO challenging and while I feel like I have learned so much, I also feel like there is so much that I will need to have hands on experience to fully comprehend! Good luck to us all.
That's awesome news, Donna! Congratulations!!!
Congratulations Donna!
Congratulations, Donna!!! Best of luck to you!
Sherry
Congratulations, Donna! I've posted a celebration congratulatory post on our Facebook page as well.
Congratulations!!!! I have just taken a very hard test in Module III and then read your post and so I know I have that to look forward to. I am so happy for you. I am scheduled to take it in May and I am so very scared.....especially after that test I just took today. But I will just keep truckin along, one step in front of another.
I just scheduled the CPC because the homework assignment said this would be the best time but now I am uncertain ... dont know if I am ready. Hopefully will finish module III and have some time to study before I take the test.
Again, congrats. You persevered!
Congratulations, Donna! Thank you for giving tips on what you did to prepare and areas that you felt caused a problem. I am getting that knee-knocking fear as I see the CPC looming in my future. It helps to have something to focus on for coping strategies. I keep having the dream (nightmare) I'm the only one who fails it...how much more can I torture myself right? :0
Again, Congratulations! A job well done!
Congratulations, Donna! I knew you could do it!
I'm extremely happy for you Donna, and everyone who has passed their exam(s) before you as well as those who will pass their exams after you. Whether you're a tortoise or a hare, swift or slower, matters not. The fact that you participated persevered and passed is totally awesome. Your efforts, your courage encourages and motivates those of us on a similar path, those of us whose turn it will be next. Thanks and best wishes to you and all that you will continue to do, from now on and always.....
Congratulations!!! I am so glad to hear you made it! I'm sure there is a HUGE relief lifted off your shoulders to have that out of the way. BEST OF LUCK IN YOUR FUTURE!!!!!
Congratulations!
Chiming in with a late congratulation!! Well done!!
Thanks to all of you for the Congrats. I am STILL doing the happy dance! The future is uncertain, but I am researching and applying to various positions. I want/need to have the apprentice removed from the CPC as soon as I can.
My local AAPC Chapter President is already sending me suggestions for classes to prepare for ICD-10-CM. She offers courses at mycodingconnection.com. I am rather annoyed by the suggestion since I am not even employed yet! Give me suggestions on helping me land a position and I will gladly take as many courses as I need to stay abreast of the coding arena!
Wait for the proper time and see what we will be able to offer our graduates for adding ICD-10 skills. This isn't the right time yet though. I don't even think the books we want to use have been published yet. There is too much uncertainty. This is one of those times when patience is a virtue. :) You don't need to say that to anyone outside of Andrews though. No reason to annoy them or make enemies, right?
Congratulations! I took mine Saturday, and I'm not feeling too confident (ran out of time). The proctors were very nice and helpful, so I hope if I do have to retake it, I can do it at the same place.
Awesome! I'm so happy for you!
Please hold off on any education about ICD-10 until you have passed the CCS exam.
It will be far too confusing and as Linda says it's way to early to be concerned about learning the new process.
You are absolutely right Linda, and I know what you mean by waiting until it is necessary. I am in no hurry to add ICD-10. :o)
Thanks Debby!
I'm so happy for you, Donna, congrats!!
I just took mine on Saturday and have no idea how I did, although I expect I too will have to re-take it...good to know second time can be a charm!
Congrats again.
