I just got home from my first AAPC Chapter Meeting! It was so much fun! The topic for the evening was E & M. (The lady who taught the class tonight also works at the same hospital as my husband, which I got a real kick out of)! It was such a great experience! I actually followed along and knew what was being taught. I received information on future CPC reviews they will be holding in the future, as well as the announcement of an ICD-10 Bootcamp that they will have here in October! The price is a bargain and I do believe we get an ICD-10 manual once we are there! I encourage everyone to join their local chapers if you haven't already. It is worth the price to become a member, that's for sure! I am so glad I joined.
Debbie, I have been going to my chapter meetings and I absolutely love them. The group of ladies are so nice and they make learning fun. They always have themes pertaining to what they are teaching....they bring food and sometimes they have a speaker that brings hands on stuff. The last meeting we had respiratory therapist bring some gadgets they use to do tests. They give lots of prizes also. They made me feel soooo welcome I kept coming back. They are giving a chapter review class this weekend that I wanted to go to but I am doing Relay for Life and will be up all night walking a track so I had to miss that one but I am going to try to go to the next one because I think it will be a nice refresher to what we just learned. I also want to do the Bootcamp deal. But that is later.
I agree -- AAPC meetings are great!
Glad to hear this as my resolution this month is to start going to my local chapter meetings!
Excellent advice! I second the recommendation.
I third it :)
I go to metings whenever I can. I was visiting two chapters for awhile, but now I just go to the one closest to home (the other one was over an hour away). They are on break for the summer, but I look forward to the meetings starting up again.
One thing I need to work on/make a goal is actually talking to people at the meetings.
