Take a moment to acknowledge your progress and successes so far! As you complete an assignment, a question, a test, recognize that you've made progress toward your goal.
It is easy to focus on the negative aspects of our studies and to lose sight of how far we've come. When we do that too much, we can get stuck in a downward spiral of those negative feelings, telling ourselves that we're never going to finish, we can't do well enough to pass the certification exams, we will never find someone willing to hire us, why are we doing this anyway...
We’re a month into a new year, and this is a good time to break that spiral if you’re in it. Tell yourself instead that you've already finished plenty of work and will keep going with the rest, that you may not be ready for your certification exam RIGHT NOW but you will be getting there soon enough, that everyone currently in the field was new at some point and there is an employer out there who will be perfect for you, and reaffirm your reasons for getting into these studies in the first place.
Each time you stop and give weight to what you've just completed, you chip away even more at the weight of the work left that still seems to loom over you. Remember to pat yourself on the back occasionally as you move forward, and you'll be through your studies before you know it!
Good morning Glenda and all of my fellow Andrews associates!
Thank you Glenda for your encouragement! I sure needed it this morning lol!
Yes, I have to constantly remind myself every day that I WILL get through this and the certification exams and move forward towards starting my new medical coding career!
