May be a silly question/thought.....but why does AMA have to publish the CPT book on slick glossy paper!?!?! I hate it!! It's hard to write on with pencil without a glare. I use art-type colored pencils to highlight, and I can barely see that. Sure wish they'd change their paper quality!!
I use the dry highlighter in my code books and you can see them pretty well. They are sometimes referred to as "Bible Highlighters" and can be found online.
Just the kind of comments, questions, and discussions I would love to see more of here! Thanks for posting, Debbie.
Hi Debbie,
Another suggestion. I researched online a bit a while back and several people recommended Crayola Twistable Crayons. I really only used the yellow and light orange ones, but they worked for me. No bleed through and it was not too light.
Not at all silly... that shiny paper drives me nuts. My study desk uses two bright lights on swiveling arms, and despite being able to move them around, I've never yet found a way I can adequately light the pages for my aging eyes (yeah, I'm whining about that again) without having a bright glare off the page somewhere. Crazy-making. The funny thing is, milling paper to make it shiny like that (it's done to get sharp, crisp printing in small sizes) costs more. Go figure....
I am always shifting my book around trying to avoid the glare. Glad to know I'm not the only one having that issue.
Thanks Debby. I have some of those Bible highlighters. I'll start using them. But, as for writing notes on the paper with a pencil - and even trying to erase a note is really a headache. (I wondered about using a fine line black erasable ink pen - but then it probably wouldn't erase any better than the pencil marks.) Like the others who responded, I'm constantly shifting my book around to see around the glossy glare. Sure wish AMA would do some different with their choice of paper.
