on filling out electronic applications, they ask: "Are you RHIT or RHIA eligible?" Well, ?? are we? I would think the pathophysiology and pharmacology would put us in that catagory but just was not sure and wanted to ask? Thank you for your input.
Eligibility Requirements
RHIA applicants must meet one of the following eligibility requirements:
- Successfully complete the academic requirements, at the baccalaureate level, of an HIM program accredited by the Commission on Accreditation for Health Informatics and Information Management Education (CAHIIM).¹
Eligibility Requirements
RHIT applicants must meet one of the following eligibility requirements:
- Successfully complete the academic requirements, at an associate's degree level, of an HIM program accredited by the Commission on Accreditation for Health Informatics and Information Management Education (CAHIIM)
That's what is listed on AHIMA's RHIA and RHIT certification pages. Since our course provides a certificate of completion, not a degree, our students don't meet the academic requirements. As a Coding graduate, you are CPC (-A) and CCS eligible if you haven't already taken and passed one or both of those certifications.
That said, if a Coding graduate is applying for an RHIA or RHIT program, it would be well worth emailing me to request a copy of your transcript from our course. Some (not all) schools may give partial or possibly even full credit for what you completed with us toward their equivalent courses.

Thank you, Glenda! You're the best too! :)
