Can anyone comment on how successful they have been on finding telecommute positions in the medical coding field after finishing Andrew's program. I am getting ready to begin Module III. I know that when someone opens up that they want to work from home, it sometimes leads to negative discussions. I have worked in medical coding for 22 years in an office setting, and I feel very confident when I say that I feel that telecommuting is what I want to do. I have an empty nest, and ready for something different and challenging. I already know that I enjoy medical coding.
Any feedback would be very much appreciated.
Sincerely,
Tracy M.
There are many facilities and coding service companies that are moving toward remote coding positions. Some facilities/companies will want you to train on site for a time before you work remote and some will let you start working remote from the beginning.
Unless a facility has an electronic medical record system the coders won't be able to work remote.
There isn't one answer. Everything depends on your certifications, how well you interview and the policies of the facility or coding service company.
