Hi. I am a new coding student in section 6 of Module 1. If the answer is incorrect on a coding exam due to a typo (my tired brain typed in the number 1 instead of the letter I on TWO answers, I'm so bummed at myself!) do we need to provide a tracing of our steps on the final exam regarding how we arrived at that code or can we just put under Analysis something like: "Mistake was a typo, I will be more careful next time to check my work and type the correct digit." If anyone has been as careless as me and knows the answer please let me know. Thank you!
The honest answer that you were tired and typed a 1 rather than the "I" is appropriate, along with how you will help to prevent that in the future. I have a list of such things, so welcome to my club! Example (for future reference, when you get your book): CPT code 20664 Halo application illustration. "Color in eyes of child to remind me NOT to stare at this drawing. Instead focus on getting the right code for the halo, turn that page!".
Hi, Heidi!
Be sure to list the code you submitted and then the correct code. Write out the steps you took to find the code and then under "Analysis" explain that it was a typo and what steps you would take to avoid typos in the future.
It's always a good idea to step away from your work for a little while and then come back and proofread everything before you submit your exam.
Thank you very much!!!
Richard, I have the same problem. I have to work very hard not to get distracted so that one thing leads to another, and then I forget what my original task was in the first place. :)
