This is an informal survey for our coding students and graduates.
What information did you find most helpful (on our web site or elsewhere) when you were looking into coding?
What are some definitions, acronyms, organizations, credentials, or anything else that were unknown to you before you got into coding. [I'm thinking of adding an index of these to our web site, to bring in people who are looking for those definitions or explanations.]
When I was looking into your program, there were two aspects of it that sold me. The first was that it prepares you for both the CPC and the CCS (NOT just the CCA). I found it helpful to read about the program itself and what the outcomes could be (given you are working hard at it). Second, I liked that there seemed to be a lot of support and communication from the staff
I also did a lot of reading up on both the AAPC website and the AHIMA website prior to looking into programs.
Lastly, while browsing for jobs in my location I noticed that just having the CCA wasn't good enough. And there are some places that want the CCS, some want the CPC, and some indicate both are okay - it varies. Like I said before, I thought it would be smart to pursue both certifications.
Excellent information, Nicki. Very helpful for my purposes!
What Nikki said and also the fact that it stated Andrews helps you find or assists in the job searching after you are done with the school. They don't just send your certificate and leave you hanging. The support is there through EVERY THING!...correct me if I am wrong Linda but that was how I interpreted it when I was debating between the three education places.

Hi, Linda,
I also agree with what Nicki said. What especially caused me to choose the Andrews School was that it can allow you to sit for the CCS exam and that it offered a course devoted to just ICD-10 training, tailored for someone who already has a medical background. Hope this helps.
Hi Linda,
I remember being very confused between the 2 organizations of AHIMA and AAPC. I think it would be helpful to list both organizations and tell which organization offers which credential (along with the acronym for the credential). This would be useful especially since there have been changes with AAPC now offering the CIC.
I also remember feeling confident in my choice because this was the only program that I found that prepared students for the CCS and the CPC.
I hope this helps out.
