I am a current student and just ordered prep materials for CPC. I have a 2015 HCPCS book. Is it worth it to buy the new one for the exam? I haven't even used this book yet in school so I don't know enough about it.

Michele, check the AAPC website to determine which books they will permit for that exam. If they will permit the 2015, you can use the one you have after adding in some code changes by hand. If they require the 2016, you may wish to purchase the Optum HCPCS. You only need the standard edition.
Please be aware that the AAPC ICD books that are on sale right now are not the same as the ones you have been using in your course. The CPT is going to be the same, because it is the one published by the AMA. The ICD book, however, is not what you have been using. It will be fine for the CPT exam, but possibly not adequate for the CCS.
