Yesterday I promised somebody I would tell her where the list of acronyms could be found. I'm sorry, but I can't find it. I thought it was in an appendix in one of our books, thought it was in HCPCS. Can someone else help her with that nice complete list?

There's a list of common abbreviations inside the back cover of my CPT. Is that the list you mean?
Update: I also just found a list of Acronyms and Abbreviations in Appendix H of my Procedural Coding and Reimbursement for Physician Services book.
That is a good start, that appendix H. A person would have to go though and pick out the things like ABN, MPFS, HCFA and not bother with CBC and CABG. You only want the organization-type acronyms. There is a web site under Medicare Acronyms or some such as that, but it also gives way too many abbreviations. The one I copied from had the acronym and spelled it out and also defined what it did. I might take another look tomorrow. This is like when I cannot find my car keys, look where I know I laid them, not there, look under the couch, not there, look in the refrigerator not there, and just before AAA arrives to help, there they are exactly where I laid them, nothing covering them up, and I swear they are laughing at me. So maybe tomorrow I will find that list and it will be just where it always was.
Thanks for your help, because maybe she can use it. In the meantime it would be a good thing, maybe fun, for everyone to join in and to see who can find it first.

I like allacronyms.com/_medical for medical acronyms. It has quite a nice search function. There are nearly 199,000 medical acronyms on the site, as well as multiple other categories that are available if you need them. It's always good to know about those that are in out books, too, though :)
