HI everyone! I am about halfway through Module 1. I am really enjoying this course and hope to work as a coder one day soon. I do hope to work remotely eventually, but I understand that may not happen right away. In the meantime, my kids left for college and I have a bedroom that I can transform into a workspace! I realized that after 31 years working as a musician, where my workspace was a chair, a mirror, a music stand and a metronome and then a stage in the evening, and trains, planes and buses as music study space, that I could use a few suggestions to set up a coding workspace. I was thinking adjustable standing desk and stool, and I have seen on Youtubes that people use double monitors, though in Module 1 i haven't needed that. Aslo a filing cabinet or two, and some sort of way to have my books easily accessible. Beyond that I have no idea, except for the fact that I want lots of air and light, and a place for my dogs to sleep bc thus far they have snored through every section of Module 1, making lovely relaxing music by which to work. Any ideas appreciated!
Hi Nancy - I'm at the beginning of module 2. The only "equipment" I use is my computer monitor and a bookstand to hold whatever text I'm using. I have a large folding table and keep my books, writing tools (pen and pencil) and binder (with things I printed for reference) handy. I'm not the most organized person but at least I know everything is accessible on my table.
Thanks! These are great ideas! I saw on a you tube someone was using a cookbook stand for their book. I have been using different colored pens to keep track of my notes from the Alpha section vs. the Tabular section when doing a code. I guess as we go we discover what we need! N
