Often when students are learning in increments, they don't recognize when they've made progress. It just happens a little bit day in, day out, week after week.
I would like for each of you to do a 'Learning Audit' for your own encouragement.
Ask yourself at the end of each week:
What do I know now that I didn't know this time last week?
What can I do now that I couldn't do this time last week?
What could I teach others to know or do that I couldn't teach them last week?
*Credit for the 'Learning Audit' goes to Stephen D. Brookfield, a genius in my opinion in the field of adult learning.
While you are doing your 'Learning Audit' make a note of two more things:
What was the most important concept that I learned today (this week)?
What was the most confusing concept that I attempted to learn this week and haven't quite mastered?
I suggest that you keep these in a small notebook so you can review every few weeks and laugh with yourself (not at yourself) when you see how easy some of these concepts are to you now when you thought them impossible way back then.
One more thing, if you have something that you do not understand, ask! If you don't understand the explanation, ask again.
