Would anyone here be willing to share and or give some tips about netwoking, landing your first coding job. I'm hoping to find some things that wouldn't be too costly as I am a poor coding student. I've heard of people going to AAPC but I don't know if there are any other good places. Also I'm in Michigan. I don't know if anyone here might be in Michigan too :-)
Facebook and LinkedIn are good no-cost networking opportunities, if you use either of them. Groups on Facebook are probably the most helpful between the two. The school has two - Medical Coding Forum and Medical Billing Forum - and we also recommend the JOBS for American Coders forum. I believe AAPC and AHIMA both also have Facebook groups you can join. Maybe some students or graduates can jump in with some others they can share?
AAPC chapters are a great no-cost or low-cost networking opportunity for local coding jobs, with the opportunity to learn more in the process. I haven't yet heard of an unfriendly AAPC chapter!

Thanks Glenda! :-)
