I get so many e-mail messages where the name of the student or graduate doesn't match the name on the e-mail OR there is no name at all - OR there's only a first name. Some days I have more than one e-mail just signed 'Mary' or 'Amy' or 'Sue' and no hint about a last name. Today it looked like two of them were from the very same person with the same first name, but that turned out not to be the case.
When you are looking for a job, don't lose job offers because your e-mail doesn't clearly identify who you are.
Let's say you apply for a job and your name is Linda Andrews, but your e-mail says Smitty. The employer looks over all the resumes, a huge stack of 342 of them, and decides to call some of them in for testing and/or interviews. They look for Linda Andrews and can't find her, so .. , sadly, Linda Andrews fails to get the job. Nobody even knows who Smitty is, so Smitty doesn't get the job either.
CLEARLY identify yourself by first and last name when sending e-mail to the office. Get in the habit of doing it NOW before it causes you to lose a job that you really want.
