Anybody else find that you get a little queazy reading some of the conditions? The gastrointestinal chapter did that to me a lot, and now cardiac - not so bad, though.
Ophthalmology always did that to me, and guess what I was assigned when I was at the University of Oklahoma Health Sciences Center and VA Hospital: Ophthalmology.
I guess different things hit us in different ways.
Oh my gosh... yes!!!! There were some parts where I was like, "I don't want to know this!!!" On the other hand though... it sure makes you appreciate how intricately EVERYTHING in our bodies were designed to function.
Totally - even though it made my stomach flip, I still really enjoyed it. You look at things differently, though if you know someone with one of the conditions. Yikes!
Definitely can relate to that today. I'm reading Gynecology and Obstetrics and keep being reminded of the somewhat traumatic births of both of my children, one breach with an eventual C-section and one forceps delivery. Also, I see my GYN for my yearly exam Monday...mammogram to follow. Double yikes!
My weakness was always the dermatology stuff. Sometimes I would just turn a page, and BAM! There is a picture of a rash, pustules, open sores or some other horrid thing. Ewwwww!

Most of the time I find the book fascinating, but when it came to certain dermatological conditions that included pictures... Eeesh... I sometimes would cover the picture with my hand just so I could pay attention to what I was reading without getting grossed out! (Strangely enough, even touching the picture with my hand sort of grossed me out..)
Haha! I wasn't even going to post anything on this topic because I thought I was too weird for being grossed out by touching some of those pictures and not just the dermatological examples! Happy to know it's not just me! I loved the terminology, but not so much the word exercises (combining forms, etc!) Although the exercises were helpful, they were sure time-consuming!
