Some of you have web sites and/or Facebook pages. We're trying to raise our search engine rankings. Having links to www.andrewsschool.com really helps. Please feel free to put a link to us any honorable, respectable place you can think of putting us. I appreciate it! Also, let me know when you do it just so I have another reason to smile. Send me an e-mail. linda@andrewsschool.com.
We also need to have a 'Telephone Day' soon. Some of you haven't been here when we did that. It's fun. I block off the entire day just to spend a couple of minutes on the phone for anyone who wants to call and say 'Hi'. I don't get to talk with all of you often enough.
Hi Linda,
I have TAS listed as my school, but it's not linked to your page, because I couldn't get it to work...I was very frustrated and disappointed about it when it happened. How do I do this? Am I just social media inept?! ;)
I don't think it works with Facebook, just regular web sites. I don't imagine that most people have regular web sites. Businesses do, but most people have no need for a web site. If you have one though... :)
I also wouldn't mind telling the moderation company I work for about you on our informal private group on Facebook, there are a few hundred of us, all people who work from home for one reason or another so might be interested in another field they can study by distance-learning. Excellent grammar and spelling, as well as fast typing, are all requirements of being a moderator and many of us are also linguists (native-level in at least two languages). We have at least a few who have previous experience in the medical field even.
Also, it does not seem you have a Facebook page for the school? Or else I can't find it, which would also not be a good sign. Anyway, if there is a page up for it under the right name and listed as a school, we should be able to link it from our profiles. It should not be created as an individual profile, but as a "page" on Fb, by an administrator (of the page) from their Fb acct. Let me know if you need help, they also keep changing things on Facebook which doesn't make it easy, even for those of us who work on there. It has also lead to there being many outdated tutorials and instructions out there for how to do these sorts of things.
Wonderful ideas, Lierre! Thank you.
I certainly didn't see anything that offended me. I did see some creative work by a very talented artist. The colors, designs, and fabrics you've used are gorgeous.
We do have an Andrews School Facebook page, although nothing ever happens there. I'm not sure this link will work, but I think you find it searching for The Andrews School. https://www.facebook.com/TheAndrewsSchool?sk=wall&filter=1
Why do you think it's so difficult to find us? What do I need to do to change that? I am not a Facebook expert.
I've copied the link to the "School Contact Information/Monthly Payments" post from our school-wide News and Announcements forum below, as well. It contains a link to the school's Facebook and Twitter pages as part of the contact information portion.

The issue with the Facebook page is the name, it's the website. Most people don't search by the website domain name, they type in "The Andrews School" or just "Andrews School", I suggest change it to the full official name :) If you go to the Facebook search and type in either of those, you can see what I mean, some similar things come up but not what we are looking for. That should help.
I will look into current process for designating the page organization a school so it can be linked from profiles in the correct category. I believe this is what Sara Ha meant and it would also be helpful for getting more visibility, as well as some more credibility which is so important and difficult online where people can create anything they want.
Yes, Lierre, that was exactly what I meant! Thank you for saying it much better than I did!
Thanks! So far I'm unable to find any area that will allow me to change the name of it. I will get back to that as soon as I can though, because it's a very good idea.
I just shared the link of our school!
Thanks, everyone! If you enjoy forums like the medical coding section of Indeed.com and other similar forums, feel free to post about us, good or bad. We don't pay students for 'advertising' for us, as you already know. :) Some schools do. Always include www.andrewsschool.com every chance you get though, even if you're telling them it's a tough course, too difficult, run the other way, fast!
I can't post on those sites because it wouldn't be ethical unless I identified myself, but all of you can, and it greatly helps our search engine optimization and Alexa rankings. Very important for getting the attention of more employers and of course, new students as well.
