Hi All - I just want to encourage you all to check out your local chapter of AAPC. I attended a recent meeting and got some great information as the speaker was someone who owns a consulting company and he had info about social networking and a few things he does as an employer. There was an offer of a free trial membership to AAPC as well. Everyone was very friendly and seemed very open to answer questions etc. It never hurts to start making contacts!
Good info! I've also found my local chapter of AAPC to be very friendly and helpful. I recently attended one of their "seminars" that lasted all day on a Saturday, and it included speakers on GI, Dermatology, and surgical procedures. Our local chapter allows a student to attend 3 meetings free of charge, and I'm enjoying getting acquainted with several new as well as some seasoned coders and practice managers.
I just went to my local chapter's meeting last night and it was fun! They had May Maynia and gave away a bunch of freebies, like AAPC $50 bucks (to spend on any AAPC product, CEU, or exam), AAPC mugs, pens, thumb drives, sticky pads, and even three coding books! The guest speaker was talking about E/M coding, which is something we can probably all use more info about and exposure to. They're a great resource for all things to do with coding, and for networking for future jobs too. I'd definitely recommend joining your local chapter!
Wow, thats is really interesting! I will keep this in mind once I am ready to attend one here in Charlotte, NC i mean I hope there is one near me because I get lazy about leaving the house unless my stomach demands food which leads me to a grocery store lol!
